Outside of your website, instagram, and maybe linkedIn, your wikipedia page is probably one of the first things people look up about you as an athlete. While that may or may not be exactly true, it's important to emphasize the significance of a strong wikipedia page.
For some athletes, a wikipedia page is the only platform that speaks about your accomplishments and gives a small glimpse of you as a human being. I'll go on my rant another time as to why you don't have a website or at least a landing page, but lets stick to the topic of wikipedia pages.
A strong wikipedia pages is great for many reasons:
- Control Your Narrative: Your Wikipedia page is often the first source of information for fans, media, and potential sponsors. Ensure it accurately represents your achievements and career highlights.
- Boost Credibility: An up-to-date and well-maintained Wikipedia page enhances your professional image and credibility in the sports and business industry.
- Maximize Opportunities: Accurate information can lead to more endorsements, speaking engagements, and career opportunities post-retirement.
I just recently updated my Wikipedia page. There was inaccurate information and I felt my page could be more succinct and professional so I worked with my business partner to make my page reflect that. What do you think?
